The way that Christmas has fallen this year means that I have only have two days holiday, and one of those was my usual day off anyway, so in effect, I actually only had the one day off work. Still, last year I had our days, so I shouldn't grumble - some you win, some you lose......
Christmas Day was not great weather wise as it rained for most of the day. Sally's parents came for the day, arriving just before noon, having lunch with us, and spending a really nice few hours with us before braving the M1 to go back to Derby.
Sally had pulled out all the stops and had created a wonderful Christmas dinner for us, a choice of melon or smoked mackeral pâté for starters, followed by pan fried salmon with new potatoes, veg and parsley sauce, and finally homemade cheesecake to wind the whole meal up. Later in the afternoon we had snacks (mostly homemade by Sally) and coffee and mints.
Boxing Day saw a little bit of a lie-in for me, which was very pleasant. I went to pick my parents up just after lunch, and brought them over to our new house for the first time. They seemed to like it, and once again, sally had made some snacks for us. Mum managed the stairs which was old, as we had worried that she would struggle with them. Thankfully she was able to see the whole house rather than just the ground floor.
The evening was finished off by yet another stunning meal by sally of turkey, roast potatoes and veg. (with smoked salmon for starters and cheesecake to end with) another success. Thank you baby!!
Oh, to round the break off, the new series of Miranda started and had tears of laughter rolling down our faces. Fab.
Back to work in the morning :-(
